Canadian doom/sludge metal outfit YETI ON HORSEBACK is preparing to unleash its long-awaited new studio album, Traditional Addictions, on July 24. Consisting of four tracks, the record is being touted as the band’s most comprehensive and ambitious work to date.

Hailing from London, Ontario, the group aims to push its signature blend of crushing riffs, dark atmospheres, and harsh vocals even further on the new release. Traditional Addictions was recorded over the course of nearly four years in collaboration with producer Greg Dawson. According to the band, the process marked a significant step forward both musically and technically.

At the heart of the album lies the relationship between trauma and addiction. The cycle created by these two forces, continually feeding one another within modern society, emerges as the central theme guiding the album’s overall narrative. The band states that each song explores a different facet of this dark story.

The album’s first single, “Erotic Goth Dad,” focuses on a highly controversial subject. Its lyrics address abuse within religious institutions, psychological trauma passed down through generations, and the impact these experiences have on individuals. According to the band members, the track serves as a key piece that completes the album’s thematic framework while also offering clues as to the musical direction they intend to pursue in the future.

YETI ON HORSEBACK emphasizes that the new album features a denser production, more layered vocal arrangements, and a more focused sonic identity compared to its previous releases. The band believes it has reached new heights in songwriting and atmosphere-building while preserving the crushing heaviness that defines its core sound.

Traditional Addictions will be released both digitally and on vinyl. Accompanied by specially commissioned artwork and additional visual materials created for the album, the release aims to deliver a fully immersive conceptual experience for listeners.
