AOP Records has announced November 20 as the international release date for "Disaster Triumphant", the fifth studio album from atmospheric black metal band BONJOUR TRISTESSE. At the heart of the album is a philosophical approach that questions the impact of modern civilization on both nature and humanity.

Taking its title from a passage in Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno’s "Dialectic of Enlightenment", "Disaster Triumphant" was shaped by the influence of the work on the band’s founder Nathanael. Also known for HERETOIR, Nathanael focuses on the contradiction inherent in Enlightenment thought: while it sought to curb superstition and religious authority on one hand, it created new forms of constraint through technological progress, industrial civilization, the idea of human supremacy, and mass society on the other.

This approach is directly reflected in the album’s lyrics. Alongside its critique of industrial civilization, BONJOUR TRISTESSE addresses the destruction of nature and an anthropocentric worldview, while loss, grief, melancholy, interpersonal emotions, and the desire to retreat from a world sinking deeper into chaos also emerge as recurring themes.

The album artwork comes from Abismo Black Arts and visually reflects the ambivalence underlying both "Dialectic of Enlightenment" and "Disaster Triumphant".

BONJOUR TRISTESSE have also released a new track from the album, ‘Tomb of Hope’. The song is available via AOP Records’ official YouTube channel.

"Disaster Triumphant" will be released internationally via AOP Records on November 20. The album comprises five tracks and runs for approximately 49 minutes, with lengthy pieces such as ‘The Heights of Despair’, ‘At the Mountains of Silence’, and the more than 12-minute title track ‘Disaster Triumphant’ accounting for a substantial part of its runtime.
