COMPLEXANT Premiere New Video for “Afterlife”
New Video: Afterlife
Australia’s blackened death metal outfit COMPLEXANT have released the official music video for their upcoming debut full-length Apex, unveiling the new single “Afterlife” ahead of the album’s July 31 release. With this drop, the band once again delivers a dense and dark sonic atmosphere in the lead-up to their first major record.
“Afterlife” stands out not only through its sheer musical brutality, but also through its deeply unsettling narrative framework. According to vocalist Dan Greigsy, the concept revolves around a couple trapped in financial ruin, who—despite their emotional bond—enter into a suicide pact as a means of escape. The track unfolds like a final, fractured inner dialogue, where despair and psychological collapse intertwine in a near-terminal act of self-confrontation.
The video received its world premiere via the prominent extreme metal platform No Clean Singing. In line with the band’s previous output, the visual presentation is driven by relentless rhythmic assault and an oppressive, darkened aesthetic.

Apex spans a total of 10 tracks and is described as the band’s most aggressive material to date. Built on high-velocity riffing, punishing drum work, and suffocating vocal delivery, the album reflects the group’s ongoing evolution following a series of earlier singles and their 2023 EP.
Vocals for the album were recorded at Beyond the Marsh Studios by Joey Marsh, while guitars and bass were tracked by Shannon Zivkovic. The mixing and mastering were handled by renowned extreme metal figure Christian Donaldson. The cover artwork was created by Matt Priso.
Actively touring and producing since 2022 within the Australian scene, COMPLEXANT continue to sharpen a dark aesthetic influenced by names such as Behemoth, Suffocation, and Emperor. With Apex, the band is expected to further cement their presence on the global extreme metal stage.
