Massive 20th Anniversary Archive Edition Announced for Dissection’s “Reinkaos”
As the 20th anniversary of its original release approaches, Reinkaos, the final studio album from Swedish black metal legends Dissection, is returning to the spotlight through an extensive special edition campaign. Darkness Shall Rise Productions has announced that the massive boxset editions prepared for the album will see worldwide release on August 13.
Originally released in 2006, Reinkaos remains one of the most controversial yet defining works in the band’s career. With its melodic framework pushing Dissection’s classic sound into a different realm, the album also stands as one of Jon Nödtveidt’s most direct manifestations of ideology through music. Having only strengthened its cult status over the years, the record now returns in comprehensive formats aimed at both collectors and a new generation of listeners.
Among the newly announced editions are massive 6-CD and 7-LP boxsets. In addition, the album will also receive standalone reissues on vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. Notably, the cassette version marks the album’s first official reissue on tape since its original release.
The boxsets will include far more than the album itself, featuring various rehearsal recordings and archival material that previously had limited availability. Reinkaos Instrumental Rehearsal, Midsummer Massacre Rehearsal — documenting the band’s final rehearsals — alongside The Hall Recordings, Maha Kali, and raw mixes dating back to 2005 are all included in this extensive archive collection.
The new editions also place significant emphasis on visual presentation. Vinyl versions will come with a 24-page booklet and will be issued in limited black and white variants. The CD edition, meanwhile, is being prepared in collector-oriented slipcase packaging.
While Dissection’s legacy continues to cast a long shadow over the black metal scene, this comprehensive anniversary edition of Reinkaos stands as an essential archival release for those looking to revisit the band’s dark and enduring history.

Each recording included in the boxset will feature its own dedicated booklet or insert, while every edition will also come with a double-sided A2 poster. In addition to the seven LPs, the collection will include four separate art prints featuring album-related illustrations by the late Timo Ketola.

Both the vinyl and CD boxsets are being produced with a leather-look design aesthetic. The vinyl edition, distinguished by its silver foil-stamped cover, will be limited to just 333 copies each on black and white vinyl. The 6-CD version will follow the same design concept, housing six individual discs in separate digipak sleeves within a slipcase box.
Further details regarding preorders are expected to be revealed soon.
