Vancouver-based melodic death metal band DUNGEON SERPENT are returning after five years of silence with their second album, "Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms". The music video for ‘Rainland’s Elegy’, taken from the upcoming record to be released via Profound Lore Records, is now available.

On the new album, Arawn handles vocals, guitars, keyboards, and bass, taking the death metal foundation established on DUNGEON SERPENT’s debut, "World Of Sorrows", into a broader musical territory. The new lineup also features Bhraonáin of Fake Dust on drums, while contemporary composer and string player Anju Singh of The Nausea contributes violin to the album.

Across its six tracks, "Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms" brings together elements of black metal and brutal death metal with jazz and grind influences, while its use of keyboards rooted in the Hellenic tradition and violin arrangements creates a broader atmospheric dimension. Although the individual tracks differ tonally, the band presents them as thematically connected parts of a cohesive whole.

According to Arawn, ‘Rainland’s Elegy’ is one of the most advanced pieces DUNGEON SERPENT have created to date. He notes that the song’s middle section in particular combines Dismember-style sequenced guitar patterns with bass solos built around modal jazz-influenced chord changes and key shifts. In his view, this section most clearly demonstrates the musical approach the band is pursuing on the new album.

The song’s music video was made, in the band’s words, as a low-budget, entirely DIY production. Arawn says this approach allows the video to align more directly with the band’s underground character. ‘Rainland’s Elegy’ is also available across all digital platforms.

The production of the album was handled by Damian Herring of Horrendous, who mixed and mastered "Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms" at Subterranean Watchtower Studios. Herring has also worked with bands including Blood Incantation, Ripped To Shreds, and Sentient Horror. The album artwork was created by dark artist Marc Potts.

"Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms" will be released on LP, CD, and digital formats via Profound Lore Records on October 30, 2026. Preorders and presaves are now available. Further previews of the album are expected to be released over the coming weeks.
