FOG WALL Merges Dark Fantasy Worlds with Death Metal
A Deadly Fantasy Realm
U.S. death metal duo FOG WALL are preparing to unleash their debut album "Gloomweaver", a work that brings together dark fantasy, horror, and crushing extreme metal atmospheres. Set for release on September 4, the album will mark the first major step into the band’s ominous musical universe, built upon heavy riffs and grim narratives.
Based in Reno, Nevada, FOG WALL is the project of Zak Brady and Alex Malmquist. The longtime friends draw inspiration from dark fantasy stories, horror aesthetics, and the unsettling worlds created by video games, aiming to forge a distinctive death metal identity of their own.
"Gloomweaver" stands out with concepts inspired by the darkest corners of fantasy literature, as well as the brutal universes created by Japanese game studio FromSoftware. Throughout the album, themes such as cursed fortresses, inhuman creatures, and terrifying rituals are explored through dense guitar tones and aggressive vocal performances.
The band’s musical approach is built around the combination of crushing guitar riffs, powerful bass tones, and dark atmospheric elements. While remaining rooted in classic death metal, FOG WALL seeks to carve out its own realm of menace within the genre by incorporating elements of horror and dark fantasy.

The album’s first single, "Knife, Sting, Tooth", has already been released. Serving as one of the first glimpses into the band’s heavy and ferocious sound, the track is also available through Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.
"Gloomweaver" will feature a total of 10 tracks. The album’s dark-themed compositions include titles such as "Manor of Ensnarement", "The Accursed", "Mazarbul (Desolation)", "Belching Black Vapours", and "Traverse". The band will also close the record with their cover version of TYPE O NEGATIVE’s classic track "The Profit of Doom".

The album’s production was handled by Alex Malmquist, who also shares vocal duties with Zak Brady. Shagrat “Quincy” Gorbag contributes guitar work, Malmquist performs bass, and Logan Griggs handles drums. The album artwork was created by Zak Brady.
Aiming to appeal to fans of bands such as MORBID ANGEL, TYPE O NEGATIVE, DEICIDE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, and THE ACACIA STRAIN, "Gloomweaver" will arrive on September 4 as FOG WALL’s first major statement, combining the brutality of death metal with the band’s dark fantasy vision.
