GRASP OF SOLITUDE Makes Its Debut with “Luminara”

Polish death metal/metalcore duo GRASP OF SOLITUDE released its debut EP, “Luminara,” on digital platforms on July 22, 2026. Comprising six tracks, the release stands out for the band’s unconventional approach to tuning, developed around the Squier Bass VI alongside their use of conventional guitars.
Originally started by Mateusz Rochon as a solo project, GRASP OF SOLITUDE evolved into a duo with the addition of vocalist Michał Bejger. Rochon handled most of the musical groundwork for “Luminara,” while Bejger wrote the majority of the lyrics. Rochon also recorded the guitars and took care of the EP’s production, mixing, and mastering.
One of the defining elements of the band’s sound is the six-string Squier Bass VI. Using the 30-inch-scale instrument in E standard, an octave below a guitar, the duo sought to give their riffs a heavier character while retaining clarity at the lower tuning. According to the band, this approach had a significant impact on the overall sound of “Luminara.”
The use of different guitars during the recording process also creates a technical distinction between the tracks. While the opening track was recorded with an eight-string guitar, a standard six-string guitar was used for ‘Intolerance.’
GRASP OF SOLITUDE initially planned to record a full-length album, but after reassessing the material, the duo decided to condense the strongest songs into a shorter EP. “Luminara” ultimately consists of six tracks: ‘Darkest,’ the title track ‘Luminara,’ ‘Intolerance,’ ‘Hollow,’ ‘Arsonist,’ and ‘Windows.’
The EP’s cover artwork was created by Hungarian artist Holo Dreamz, who has previously worked with bands including ENTER THE VORTEX, KOCYTUS, and WORM SHEPHERD.
GRASP OF SOLITUDE’s “Luminara” EP has been available on digital platforms since July 22. The band’s music is aimed at listeners drawn to the likes of SYLOSIS, UNEARTH, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, SPIRITBOX, and THY ART IS MURDER.
