US-based dark black metal duo Hulder have released “In Blood and In Earth,” the second single from their upcoming third studio album Verbolgen. Accompanied by a cinematic music video built around a folk horror aesthetic, the track once again reveals the band’s musical universe shaped by nature, ancient mythology, and ominous atmospheres.

Set for release on August 7, 2026 through Season of Mist (Europe) and 20 Buck Spin (North America), Verbolgen marks the beginning of a new chapter in Hulder’s musical journey. Clocking in at over seven minutes, “In Blood and In Earth” reflects the band’s dark black metal approach through its threatening atmosphere, slow-burning structure, and epic climactic passages.

At the heart of the song lies the ancient connection between nature and humanity, the warrior spirit, and the concept of power inherited from the past. Through imagery rooted in old European folklore and historical narratives, Hulder explores the mystical relationship between blood, earth, and existence. The band describes the new single as a warning and a spell that embodies the spirit of the forthcoming album.

The music video for “In Blood and In Earth” was directed by Newfoundland-based filmmaker Justin Oakey and produced by Black River Pictures. Drawing inspiration from folk horror cinema, the clip creates an unsettling and dark atmosphere through the story of a family struggling to survive in a harsh landscape.

Verbolgen also marks the first album where Hulder officially welcomes Necreon as a co-leader of the project, a role he has already played as a significant part of the band’s creative process. The album was recorded at Elektric City Recording in Portland, Oregon, as well as at various locations used by the band. Mixing was handled by Ahti Kortelainen at Tico Tico Studios in Finland, while mastering was completed by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki.

The album artwork was created by Morrigan, with logo design by Jannicke Wiese Hansen and photography by Liana Rakijian.
