Chilean progressive death-doom band MAR DE GRISES have re-signed with Season of Mist as they prepare their fourth studio album, marking their return after more than 15 years. The album is scheduled for release next year, with further details expected to emerge in the coming months.

Formed in 2000, MAR DE GRISES draw on Chile’s landscapes and atmosphere, combining a cinematic approach with melodic elements. The Andes, the Pacific Ocean, the cold climate of Cape Horn, Santiago, the Valdivian forests and the Atacama Desert are among the geographical landmarks that shape the band’s musical world.

After beginning their label career with Finland’s Firebox Records, MAR DE GRISES became the first band from South America to sign with Season of Mist. The label released their latest album, 2010’s Streams Inwards, which helped the band reach a wider international audience. During this period, they toured with SÓLSTAFIR, SWALLOW THE SUN and SATURNUS, and appeared at festivals featuring OPETH, ENSLAVED and KATATONIA.

MAR DE GRISES will also return to the stage ahead of the new album, headlining Cryptic Celebration VII at Teatro Cariola in Santiago on October 30. The band will then open for OPETH in the same city on November 1.
