Rising force of the Mapuche metal scene Mawiza have delivered a striking manifesto with their new single “MÜR”, placing cultural roots, solidarity, and collective memory at its core. Centered around the theme of “togetherness,” the band joins forces with Mira Ceti (Heilung) and Danefae vocalist Anne Olsen, crafting an epic atmosphere enriched with ethnic sonic textures.

The new track marks the band’s first release since their groundbreaking and critically acclaimed album “ÜL.” Mawiza entered 2026 on a powerful note, working from Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier’s studio and sharing stages with major acts such as Avenged Sevenfold and Mr. Bungle. Now, as they prepare for Europe’s leading summer festival circuit, “MÜR” opens a fresh creative chapter ahead of their upcoming live run.

The released lyric video stands not only as a musical piece but also as a cultural statement. While “MÜR” means “together” in the Mapuche language, the track constructs a narrative that emphasizes intergenerational bonds and collective resilience. The band notes that the song speaks not only to the Mapuche people but also to Indigenous communities worldwide who have lost parts of their cultural heritage due to colonialism.

Vocalist and guitarist Awka describes the essence of the song as “reconnecting with ancestral values and reminding us of the importance of acting together,” while bassist Zewü emphasizes that “MÜR is a global call for unity representing the shared memory and cultural resilience of Indigenous peoples.”

Pit-Stop Extreme Metal Portal frames Mawiza’s current era as not only a musical ascent but also an ideological one. “MÜR” stands out as one of the most powerful statements in today’s extreme metal landscape, bringing cultural identity and solidarity back to the forefront of the genre.
