MERIDIAN VEIL Sign with Season of Mist
Four musicians, one darker direction
Bringing together four musicians from the Canadian metal scene, MERIDIAN VEIL have announced that they have signed with Season of Mist. The band, featuring members associated with The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Seven Spires and Leprous, are planning to release their debut album in 2027.
Based in Montreal, MERIDIAN VEIL's lineup features The Agonist guitarist Danny Marino, Cryptopsy vocalist Matt McGachy, Seven Spires drummer Dylan Gowan and cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne, who has been part of Leprous' touring lineup. The project's origins date back to the early 2000s, when Marino and McGachy first discussed the idea of making music together. That shared ambition, which began nearly two decades ago, eventually evolved into a band bringing four musicians together.
The band's musical approach combines Progressive Metal with dark atmospheres, while its lyrics explore thought-provoking themes through emotional storytelling. Danny Marino describes the forthcoming debut as a record featuring heavy passages but built around a compelling story rooted in profound longing.
Matt McGachy says MERIDIAN VEIL allows him to express himself differently as a vocalist. Dylan Gowan highlights how bringing together composers from diverse musical backgrounds gives the project its distinctive character, while Raphael Weinroth-Browne explains that the album draws on the Death Metal and Progressive Metal sounds of the 2000s, reshaping those influences through a contemporary approach.
Further details about the band's debut album are expected to emerge in the coming months following the signing with Season of Mist.
