Texas/Alaska-connected thrash metal outfit SCATTER is preparing to make a fierce entrance onto the underground scene with its debut EP, Tech Hell Cyber Thrash. As the band unveils “404,” the first single from the short-player due out on June 12th, they draw attention with an aggressive thrash approach fused with cyberpunk aesthetics.

Born during the pandemic around sci-fi movie marathons, hacker culture, and an obsession with analog gear, the project emerged under the leadership of Spenser Hodge. With the later addition of Texas guitarist Ruben Cantu and Alaska-based Justin Rodda, SCATTER’s musical identity began to fully take shape. The band merges the hostility of classic thrash metal with old-school speed metal melodies and the sheer heaviness of death metal.

Consisting of five tracks, Tech Hell Cyber Thrash delivers an intense, high-velocity experience despite its brief runtime. The record was tracked at Oakland’s Earhammer Studios under the guidance of Greg Wilkinson, while the cover artwork bears the signature of Matt Stikker, known for his work with names such as Metallica and Power Trip.

The newly released track “404” stands out through lyrics fueled by dystopian future scenarios. According to the band, the song draws particular inspiration from cult works of cyberpunk literature and revolves around themes of vengeance in a world where technology has spiraled out of control.

In addition to its digital release, the EP will also be made available to collectors as a strictly limited cassette edition capped at just 50 copies.
