New York-based avant-garde/slam death metal outfit THÆTAS has released a new track, “Stretched Paradox,” taken from the band’s forthcoming sophomore full-length, The Irredeemable Age. The album is set for release on June 26th via Profound Lore Records.

Bringing together seasoned musicians from different corners of the scene, the band features members known for their work in acts such as Reeking Aura, Asystole, and Needlepusher. Following the long silence after their debut album Shrines To Absurdity, THÆTAS now prepares to return with a darker, more technical, and increasingly unhinged sonic identity.

Consisting of nine tracks spread across roughly thirty minutes, The Irredeemable Age expands the punishing framework of brutal death metal through avant-garde textures and unconventional transitions. On the new record, the band merges chaotic atmospheres with organic riff structures, aiming to drag the listener into a constantly shifting wall of sound.

While the album was recorded independently, mixing and mastering duties were handled by Colin Marston. The cover artwork, meanwhile, bears the signature of Jon Zig. Newly released track “Stretched Paradox” stands as one of the first strong indicators of the band’s denser and more aggressive direction in this new era.

THÆTAS has also announced new live plans surrounding the album’s release. In addition to a special record release show scheduled for late summer, the band is currently preparing further performances across the New England area for the fall season.
