Dauþuz New Album: Todeswerk: Uranium II Streaming in Full
The prominent name of the German “mining black metal” school, Dauþuz has returned with their long-awaited sixth studio album Todeswerk: Uranium II. The album has been made available in full via the Black Metal Promotion YouTube channel, while its international release is set for May 29 via Amor Fati Productions in CD and vinyl formats. The cassette editions are being released by the band themselves through Archaic-Oath Productions and Moonstruck.
Since 2016, Dauþuz have carved out a distinctive identity with their “mining-themed black metal” approach, and following the previous album Uranium, the story now continues with Todeswerk: Uranium II, reaching an even darker and more intense point. The structure remains rooted in ‘90s melodic black metal tradition, while constantly being refreshed through dynamic and experimental passages.

One of the most notable changes on the new record is found in the drum department; during the recording process, the band worked with session drummer Werwolf, adding extra weight and depth to the material. In addition, the return of acoustic guitars reconstructs the melancholy of mountain atmospheres, this time in a far more hopeless tone. The overall sound has also shifted toward a more aggressive and harsher direction compared to previous releases, while still maintaining variety through occasional multi-layered vocal arrangements.
On the lyrical front, Dauþuz once again focus on a historical and heavy subject matter. The album centers on uranium mining in the Joachimsthal (Jáchymov) region during the post–World War II era, the forced laborers, and the inhumane conditions within labor camps established by the Soviet Union and later Eastern Bloc regimes. The destruction of thousands of miners under extreme conditions, industrial exploitation, and the devastation shaped under the shadow of the nuclear arms race form the core of the narrative.
Alongside the album, the video for “Joachimsthal – Jáchymov” has also been released. Todeswerk: Uranium II stands as a dark milestone in Dauþuz’s discography, both in terms of its conceptual depth and its increasingly brutal musical direction.
