Finnish band DAWN OF SOLACE are preparing to release their fifth full-length album, “Skeletons”, independently on February 12, 2027. Alongside the album announcement, the band have unveiled its title track as the lead single, accompanied by an official music video.

The new release from the melancholic death/doom metal project led by Tuomas Saukkonen ventures into the darkest territory of the band's career so far. Across its ten tracks, “Skeletons” brings harsh growled vocals into sharper contrast with Mikko Heikkilä’s dark and powerful clean singing. Saukkonen’s compositions combine the atmospheric weight of doom metal with elements of death metal and gothic metal.

Describing the musical progression of the title track, Tuomas Saukkonen characterises it as a hypnotic Nordic pulse that gradually grows darker before reaching a melodic crescendo in the chorus. According to Saukkonen, one of the album's defining features is the contrast between Mikko Heikkilä’s harsh and melodic vocal approaches. ‘Skeletons’ is among the tracks that best bring these two distinct vocal styles together.

Formed in 2005 as Tuomas Saukkonen’s creative outlet, DAWN OF SOLACE released their debut album, “The Darkness”, in 2006. Following an extended hiatus, the project was revived in 2019. Since then, the band have released three full-length albums: “Waves” (2020), “Flames of Perdition” (2022) and “Affliction Vortex” (2025).

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Saku Moilanen at Deep Noise Studios, “Skeletons” features cover artwork by Colton Glancey. The album will be released independently on February 12, 2027.
