After a long silence, Mexican death metal band Demonic Manifestation are back on the scene with their third studio album, “Grimshrine.” The record will be released on CD via Personal Records on September 4, delivering a pure, old-school death metal manifesto that marks a return to the band’s roots.

Hailing from Colima, the group was formed in 2012 through the coming together of musicians who had previously been involved in various side projects. From the very beginning, the band drew inspiration from the raw, gritty aesthetic of the early ’90s Swedish death metal school, gradually blending that approach with a darker, more ritualistic atmosphere to carve out a distinctive identity of their own.

As the third full-length in their discography, “Grimshrine” once again brings to the surface the underground spirit Demonic Manifestation have long preserved. The sound, particularly shaped by classic-era Swedish acts such as Dismember, Entombed, Grave, Unleashed, as well as names like Pestilence and Crematory, fuses raw power with melodic darkness throughout the album.

Following their 2015 debut “World of Horror” and 2017’s “Necrokult,” the band entered a more limited period of activity in recent years, aside from a split release in 2020. However, “Grimshrine” stands as a powerful return that cuts through that silence. Recorded with a new three-piece lineup, the album almost perfectly captures the feeling of early ’90s death metal in both production and approach.

The previously released track “Kuru: The Laughing Death March” stands out as the clearest reflection of the band’s current era of darkness. Offering a ritualistic yet destructive atmosphere, the song provides a strong indication of the album’s overall character.

With “Grimshrine,” Demonic Manifestation once again reaffirm their commitment to blending devotion, destruction, and nostalgia within death metal. For the underground scene, the album feels like a reminder pulled straight from the dusty corridors of the past.
