ENDLESS CHAIN Release ‘Down’ From “Nothingness”

Finnish melodic death/gothic metal band ENDLESS CHAIN have released the second preview track from their upcoming album “Nothingness,” due out November 20 via M-Theory Audio. Titled ‘Down,’ the single highlights the band’s approach of combining melancholic melodies with harsher vocals and rhythms.

‘Down’ is the second track ENDLESS CHAIN have released from “Nothingness,” following last month’s ‘Fade to Nothingness.’ The accompanying video was produced by Winter Notes Production.

Guitarist Timo Mölsä points to ‘Down’s defining role on “Nothingness.” According to Mölsä, the song was the first track written for the album and helped shape the overall direction of the record. He describes it through its heavy, melancholic atmosphere, Ville Hovi’s lyrics, and vocal performance.

The song’s lyrical side revolves around a desperate search for the meaning of life. Vocalist Ville Hovi describes the inspiration behind the track as “a desperate plea to the universe to tell us what the meaning of life is when nothing seems to matter.”

ENDLESS CHAIN’s vocal approach in this new phase brings together Hovi’s clean vocals and bassist Aki Salonen’s harsh vocals within the same framework. Drummer Samuli Mikkonen handles the rhythmic side, while the band’s atmospheric and melodic approach moves alongside heavier passages.

“Nothingness” will be the band’s third studio album, following 2021’s “Forthcoming Past” and 2024’s “Agony.” With “Agony,” ENDLESS CHAIN expanded its approach by combining gothic structures, melodic death metal foundations, and progressive touches.

Production and mixing on the new album were handled by Aleksanteri Kuosa, known for his work with WOLFHEART, WALTERI, and DAWN OF SOLACE. Mastering was handled by Tony Lindgren (AMORPHIS, INSOMNIUM, KATATONIA), while the album artwork was created by Kalle Pyyhtinen (CHILDREN OF BODOM, ENTWINE, HANGING GARDEN). The photographs were taken by Teppo Ristola.

“Nothingness” will be released worldwide on November 20. Physical editions include a Digipak CD with a booklet and a limited run of 300 colored wood-look vinyl copies.
