Norwegian folk-rock band GÅTE have released ‘Mi Jord’, the third single from their forthcoming sixth studio album, "Sigil". Meaning “My Earth,” the song is accompanied by an official visualizer.

‘Mi Jord’ marks one of the album’s key narrative turning points. The song is built around an image of southern, northern, eastern, and western currents sweeping across land and sea, like the final breath of something vast and maternal as it withdraws. Rather than judgment, accusation, or apocalypse, the lyrics foreground the feeling of a quiet farewell.

That atmosphere is reinforced by GÅTE’s approach of bringing traditional instruments together with modern musical textures. Hurdy-gurdy and mandola are set against uncompromising guitars and restrained electronic textures, creating a sound that is both heavy and measured. John Stenersen performs hurdy-gurdy on the track.

‘Mi Jord’ occupies the ninth position on "Sigil", representing the point where the album’s journey through enchantment, desire, and mortality reaches a sense of surrender. The album’s closing track, 'Jostedalsrypa', will then offer a different kind of ending, turning toward renewal in the wake of that surrender.

GÅTE’s sixth studio album, "Sigil", will be released on September 25, 2026, marking the band’s first release through Season of Mist. The album was recorded at MagnuStudio and Øra Studio, with production handled by Kristian Fanavoll Tvedt and Magnus Børmark, who have helped shape the band’s sound since their return in 2017. Mixing and mastering were handled by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios.

Pre-order and pre-save “Sigil”

GÅTE’s approach to combining Norwegian folk tradition with contemporary rock remains at the core of the new album. The band treats tradition not as a fixed and untouchable legacy, but as a living source that can be reinterpreted in the present.

The live chapter of the "Sigil" era will also begin this fall. Alongside nine concerts across Norway, GÅTE will take the stage at IF Performance in Istanbul on November 21, 2026. Across the ten-date run, the band will perform new material from the album, including 'Sannsiger', alongside fan favourites from throughout their career.
