GODTHRYMM Unveil Somber New Single “Jewels”
One of the most striking names to emerge from the UK doom metal scene in recent years, GODTHRYMM have unveiled their new single “Jewels” alongside an accompanying video clip ahead of their forthcoming album Projections. The record is set for release on May 29th via Profound Lore Records.

Directed by the band’s guitarist/vocalist Hamish Glencross, the video strongly reflects the more melancholic and introspective atmosphere the band has embraced during this era. “Jewels” also stands out as a significant indicator of how GODTHRYMM have expanded their sonic palette into broader and more layered territory on the new album. Keyboardist and vocalist Catherine Glencross takes center stage throughout the clip.
Projections serves as the final chapter in the trilogy the band began with 2020’s Reflections and continued with 2023’s Distortions. GODTHRYMM are widely regarded as one of the acts carrying the dark spirit forged by early-to-mid ’90s UK doom metal into the modern era, channeling the bleak emotional weight once defined by bands such as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Anathema. One of the key reasons behind this is undoubtedly the presence of seasoned veterans at the very core of the band.
While preserving the emotional heaviness that defined the previous records, the new album delivers harsher riffs, denser arrangements, and a far more expansive dynamic structure. With the addition of Catherine Glencross, bassist Bob Crolla, and second guitarist Kris McLaughlin, the expanded lineup has crafted what appears to be the band’s richest and most aggressive work to date.
The album also features several notable guest appearances. “Trenches Deep” includes contributions from English Dogs vocalist Adie Bailey and Xentrix frontman Jay Walsh, while former My Dying Bride vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe appears on “Endure My Skin.” The track marks another reunion between Stainthorpe, Glencross, and drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels after many years.
The production process for Projections was handled across various studios, with Andy Hawkins and Hamish Glencross overseeing the sessions together. The album artwork, meanwhile, bears the signature of artist Mitchell Nolte.
