GORMA Usher in a New Musical Chapter After BREACH
Two BREACH members forge something new
Per Nordmark and Tomas Liljedahl, former members of post-hardcore act BREACH, who disbanded around 25 years ago following the release of "Kollapse", have reunited under the name GORMA. However, this project is less a revival of their former band than a meeting of two musicians pursuing a different musical direction. Their first collaborative effort, "Eat The Sky", will be released on January 29 via Trust No One Recordings.
The first taste of GORMA's musical approach has arrived with the release of 'The Thicket'. The song follows two companions walking towards the same unknown end, placing faith, doubt, and mortality in opposition. Its lyrics revolve around the stories of two characters: one who believes in God and another who seeks truth through pain. Folk horror elements and a bleak landscape where even faith offers no protection shape the song's narrative.

The project came about through Nordmark and Liljedahl's desire to reconnect musically after their time in BREACH. Nordmark explains that reuniting the former band was no longer possible, but he wanted to make metal music again and had missed Liljedahl's vocal style. Rather than revisiting their previous musical identity, the pair set out to create an entirely new sonic world.
Nordmark's production approach is another defining element of GORMA's sound. Bringing together distorted piano sounds, beats, and processed analogue recordings, he aims to reinterpret Fabio Frizzi's melodic approach through a darker, more unsettling sonic aesthetic. The coexistence of beautiful and frightening sounds within the same composition lies at the heart of the project's musical vision.
The name GORMA, an old Swedish dialect word meaning "to scream", also reflects this approach. Rather than drawing on Viking narratives or mythological themes, the project's lyrical world favours a bleak atmosphere reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's writing, seeking to construct a dark narrative centred on the human inner world.
Consisting of nine tracks, "Eat The Sky" will arrive on vinyl and digital platforms on January 29. The album's first preview, 'The Thicket', is already available on all major streaming platforms.
