Hyena and Risingfall Join Forces
Heavy Metal Heroes Split
Peru’s Hyena and Japan’s Risingfall have joined forces for a new split EP that bridges the spirit of traditional heavy metal across continents. Titled Heavy Metal Heroes, the release will be issued on June 19 via Dying Victims Productions on CD and 12” vinyl formats.
Bringing together representatives of the underground heavy metal scene from different corners of the world, this special release features new material from both bands. Having toured internationally in recent years and continuing to keep the classic heavy metal ethos alive in the modern era, Hyena contribute two new tracks that serve as a first glimpse of their forthcoming second studio album. While maintaining the raw and energetic approach that defined their debut, the Peruvian outfit delivers stronger choruses and a more pronounced sense of identity this time around.
On the other side stands Tokyo-based Risingfall. Following their debut album and last year’s EP, the band has steadily expanded its profile within traditional heavy metal circles, drawing particular attention with its appearance at Germany’s Keep It True Rising Festival. The two new compositions prepared for this release showcase an approach that blends classic heavy metal aesthetics with touches distinctive to the Japanese scene.
Heavy Metal Heroes emerges as a release in which two bands from different cultures meet on common ground to champion the enduring values of traditional heavy metal. Following the EP’s release, Hyena and Risingfall will also share the stage during a series of co-headlining performances in Tokyo throughout June.
The entire release has already been made available to listeners through the NWOTHM (New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal) YouTube channel ahead of its official release date. This special split EP once again highlights the international solidarity of today’s underground heavy metal scene and its unwavering commitment to the genre’s roots.
