Into Darkness Signal “Saturn”
One of the most striking names on the Italian death metal scene, Into Darkness, has unveiled another new track from their long-awaited debut album. The song titled “Saturn” arrives as the second single released ahead of the band’s upcoming full-length Route to the Other Side, now available across online platforms. It has been confirmed that the album will be released on July 24 via Dying Victims Productions.

The new track first premiered through one of the well-known outlets of the metal press, simultaneously opening another window into the conceptual universe of the record. Having previously introduced listeners to the album’s narrative framework with “Jupiter,” the band now draws them, through “Saturn,” into a deeper and darker cosmic layer.
Since their formation in 2011, Into Darkness have presented a constantly evolving structure, carving out their space in the underground scene through early demos, split releases, and EPs. Led by vocalist and guitarist Doomed Warrior, who has remained at the core of the lineup, the project gradually sharpened its sonic identity, developing an aesthetic closely aligned with the classic Dutch death metal school. The heavy, destructive approach embodied by names such as Asphyx, Soulburn, Sinister, and Gorefest is distinctly embedded in the band’s musical backbone.
However, what sets Into Darkness apart is not solely their musical references. The band focuses on a lyrical concept that can be defined as a form of “scientific astronomical narration.” No fantasy constructs, no space opera clichés… what is conveyed here are direct cosmological realities and the raw data of astronomy itself.
The forthcoming Route to the Other Side album fully expands this approach into a conceptual framework. Centered on the outer layers of the Solar System, the record constructs a cohesive narrative that references an older perspective still recognizing Pluto as a planet, as well as celestial bodies such as Halley’s Comet. The trio delivers this concept without relying on flashy effects, instead channeling it through a dense, immersive death metal language that occasionally leans into doom-laden territory.
The natural, unembellished character of the production serves the coherence of the songs rather than highlighting technical excess. As a result, “Saturn” neither leans into pure technical display nor superficial atmosphere-building; instead, it steadily and deliberately pulls the listener into a vast cosmic void.
