IRATA Returns with New Album
New Album on the Way
North Carolina heavy rock trio IRATA are preparing to return with their long-awaited new studio album, Human. The band will release the record on July 10 via Small Stone Recordings.
Founded in 2007, IRATA have drawn attention throughout their career with an approach that refuses to be confined by fixed formulas. Blending diverse influences into a distinct identity across their previous releases, the band has carved out a solid place within the underground heavy rock scene, particularly through the dense atmosphere built around the powerful interplay between bass and drums.
Having released Tower in 2019 as a four-piece, the band has now returned to a trio format. Human stands out as a work that preserves IRATA’s defining characteristics while continuing to explore new sonic territory. Thundering bass riffs, compelling rhythms, and strong vocal melodies play a central role throughout the album, while the maturation of the band’s songwriting is equally evident.
Consisting of eight tracks, the album occupies a different space from the band’s previous output thanks to its melodic approach and its success in crafting atmosphere. The measured progression of opener “Altar,” the layered construction of songs such as “Slipped,” and the expansive scope of closing track “Daystar” are among the key elements that shape the album’s dynamic character. By balancing technical detail with emotional expression, IRATA aim to deliver a work that is both accessible and deeply immersive.
Offering a cohesive structure on a conceptual level as well, Human draws attention with a narrative that explores different facets of an ending and a new beginning. Themes of transformation, confrontation, and rebirth run throughout the album, while the band’s musical evolution becomes an integral part of that story.
The recording process took place at Amplified Acres studio in North Carolina alongside the band’s longtime collaborators Hunter Allen and Adam Joyce. Mixing duties were completed by J. Robbins at The Magpie Cage studio in Baltimore.
Human will be available on CD, digital platforms, and special limited-edition vinyl formats.
