TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE Make “Cenotaph Severance” Available to Stream in Full Ahead of Release
TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE Unveil Their Latest Descent
Australian death metal band TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE have made their fifth full-length album, “Cenotaph Severance”, available to stream in its entirety ahead of its release. The album can be heard via the Death Metal Promotion YouTube channel. Released by Iron Bonehead Productions, the record will be available internationally on CD and vinyl on October 30.
Formed in 2010 by IV, TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE initially explored a death metal approach infused with black metal influences before gradually developing a more atmospheric and cavernous sound. Their evolution became particularly evident on 2016’s “The Hecatomb”, while 2018’s “Recondemnation” reimagined their debut album, “Condemnation”. Their 2020 release, “Pillars of Damnation”, brought a more focused approach to the forefront, built around tighter riffing and memorable songwriting.
“Cenotaph Severance” continues along the musical path established by “Pillars of Damnation”. Guitarist Ignus Fatuus has joined the lineup, bringing experience from bands including PORTAL, IMPETUOUS RITUAL and GRAVE UPHEAVAL. The new lineup retains the approach developed on the previous album while revisiting the bestial death metal elements that characterised the band's early recordings.
The sound of “Cenotaph Severance” combines dense, crushing guitar tones with a spacious, atmospheric production. With its pronounced black metal influences, the album bridges the more primitive and aggressive approach of the band's 2011 demo, “Prophecies of Malevolence”, and the more controlled sound of their later work.
