STORMRULER Revisits the History of Its Fantasy World on New Single
A forgotten history shapes Aurelia’s fate
US black metal duo STORMRULER have released the single ‘Chapter I. The Sword, The Scepter & The Seal’ along with its music video, offering another glimpse into their upcoming album “Morning Nautical Twilight,” due out on December 4, 2026, through Distortion Music Group (DMG), powered by Reigning Phoenix Music. The track delves into the history of the album’s fantasy world, laying the foundations for its overarching narrative.
According to the band, ‘Chapter I. The Sword, The Scepter & The Seal’ tells a historical tale recounted by an elderly innkeeper to a young wanderer during the album’s prologue. Set in 1142 F.A., the events take place 2,150 years before the rest of the album, tracing the origins of the troubles that will eventually engulf Aurelia and exploring the history of the Imperial Scepter.

Musically, the track combines the aggression of black metal with the warm tones of folk instruments, prominent melodies, and power metal influences, placing the band’s fantasy storytelling at the heart of its sound. STORMRULER weave together elements of folk, power metal, black metal, and death metal to develop the album’s central narrative.
Featuring guitarist and vocalist Jason Asberry and drummer Jesse Schobel, STORMRULER have drawn on fantasy worlds and historical elements throughout their previous releases. Their 2021 debut album, “Under The Burning Eclipse,” was followed by “Sacred Rites & Black Magick” in 2022, with both records released through Napalm Records.
After signing with Distortion Music Group in 2026, the duo released the standalone single ‘Dark Age Of Deception’ that same year. Together with the subsequent release of ‘Chapter II: In The Eye Of Umbria,’ the new material marks a continuation of STORMRULER’s current direction, with storytelling at the core of “Morning Nautical Twilight.”
Pre-orders and pre-saves for “Morning Nautical Twilight” are now available here. The album arrives on December 4, 2026.
