Iron Kobra’s Return: “Eternal Dagger” Fully Streamable
“Eternal Dagger” in Full Ahead of Release
Germany-based heavy/speed metal band Iron Kobra has made its long-awaited third studio album Eternal Dagger available ahead of its official release. The record is now fully streamable via Decibel magazine, while its international release is scheduled for June 19 through Dying Victims Productions.
Formed in 2008, the band quickly drew attention through its commitment to the raw, unfiltered, early-era aesthetic of heavy metal. Drawing inspiration from classic acts such as Iron Maiden, Cirith Ungol, Living Death, and Manowar, the group fused punk energy into the equation, forging an aggressive yet melodic sound. Their early years saw the release of demos and EPs that resonated strongly within the underground scene, while extensive touring across Europe earned them a solid reputation as a powerful live act.
Following their 2012 signing with Dying Victims Productions, Dungeon Masters and its successor Might & Magic pushed Iron Kobra’s sound into a more refined territory. However, in the years that followed—particularly during the pandemic era—the band’s momentum slowed significantly. Despite this, they continued to write and perform selectively, even extending their reach as far as Japan on tour.

Eternal Dagger marks a forceful return for Iron Kobra after a prolonged silence. With production handled by Stefan Castevet, the album’s energy is rendered sharp and luminous, while the band remains faithful to its classic identity and simultaneously expands its dynamic range. Rapid-fire speed metal assaults, NWOBHM-inflected hard rock touches, and epic narrative-driven compositions form the backbone of the record.
High-velocity cuts like “Trembling Dungeons” sit alongside tracks such as “Shibuya Nights,” which introduce a distinct atmosphere, while sprawling pieces like “Mountains of Madness” reinforce the album’s more epic dimension. Spanning nine tracks in total, the release clearly presents a band that remains rooted in its origins while actively refining its current form.
Eternal Dagger stands out as an ambitious comeback in Iron Kobra’s discography, uniting the spirit of classic heavy metal with a modern production approach.
