Polish cinematic metal project JASMENO has returned after a nearly four-year absence with its third studio album, “Assemblage of Cinematic Idioms”. Led by Sławomir Nietupski, the project released the album in physical formats via Tangled Records on September 11, with the digital release following on September 21.

One of the album’s notable features is the way it brings together musicians from bands with very different histories and musical backgrounds, including PATRIARKH, MORGOTH, THORNS, DØDHEIMSGARD, ARMAGEDON and MASACHIST. PATRIARKH vocalist Bartłomiej Krysiuk guests on ‘His Rebirth’, while Marc Grewe, Snorre Ruch, Yusaf Parvez, Sławomir Maryniewski and Mariusz Domaradzki also contribute to the album.

“Assemblage of Cinematic Idioms” takes its title from the works of artist Władysław Hasior, who created pieces by bringing together different fragments that initially appeared incompatible. The album’s musical approach follows the same idea. Drawing on progressive rock and melodic electronica, Nietupski brings together different sounds, styles and artistic personalities around the foundation of a virtual symphony orchestra.

Spanning nearly 50 minutes across six compositions, the album features lyrics written by poet Izabela Turska-Kamrowska. The songs revolve around everyday doubts and emotions, as well as separation, alienation, the search for faith and feelings of joy in everyday life. As a result, the album is not merely a collection of different musicians brought together for a single project; it is conceived as a work aiming to form a narrative whole of its own.

JASMENO founder Sławomir Nietupski explains the album’s approach:

“It is a musical assemblage in its purest form: built from diverse fragments and personalities, yet brought together under a single artistic vision.”

Nietupski also states that the entire work was created without the use of artificial intelligence.

The album’s musical backbone features Unblessed Divine guitarist Michał Grall and Artur Ołkowicz of Mechanism and Art of Illusion, while Brian Gawaski handles the vocals. Mixing and mastering were handled by Jakub Mańkowski, known for his work with BEHEMOTH, Czesław Mozil, Justyna Steczkowska, ME AND THAT MAN and BLINDEAD.

Several notable names were also involved in shaping JASMENO’s visual identity. The project’s logo was designed by Christophe Szpajdel, known for his work with Emperor, Aborted and Lorna Shore, while Nietupski handled the album artwork, layout and hand-painted watercolour illustrations.

Physical editions of “Assemblage of Cinematic Idioms” were released through Tangled Records on CD, LP and MC. The album became available on digital platforms on September 21. The digital release can be accessed here, while physical editions can be ordered via Bandcamp.
