Nashville-based melodic black metal outfit Lenax have emerged with their new track “Ascension of the Blood Mage,” featured on the expanded edition of their 2025 debut full-length album “Infection.” With this new offering, the band further expands its own mythology by combining dark atmospheres, esoteric themes, and their distinctive melodic black metal approach.
“Ascension of the Blood Mage” stands as another chapter in the musical universe Lenax have built around cosmic horror and occult narratives. The song delivers an intense atmosphere centered on transcending the boundaries of human consciousness, forging connections with ancient forces, and establishing mystical bonds with unknown entities.
The track’s musical foundation was initially created in 2024 through drum and guitar recordings, while the vocal, bass, and guitar solo parts were completed in 2026. With this new arrangement, the song reflects Lenax’s evolution during their second phase and their movement toward a broader sonic landscape.
The band took their first major step in their career with the release of “Infection” in 2025. The expanded edition of the album arrived one year later, in June 2026. The release combines the legacy of classic black metal with modern melodic touches while placing dark narratives and Lovecraft-inspired cosmic horror at its core.
Appealing to fans of bands such as Watain, Immortal, and Enslaved, Lenax have carved out their own path by blending an aggressive black metal foundation with occasional black’n’roll influences and atmospheric textures. Themes of individuality, esotericism, transformation, and humanity’s encounter with unknown forces occupy a central place in the band’s lyrical universe.
Lenax are currently working on their second studio album, “Nexus.” Planned as a 13-track journey, the upcoming release is expected to push the band’s musical evolution and the dark universe they have created even further.
Lenax’s current lineup features Venomous (vocals, guitar), Mordred (guitar, backing vocals), Bones (drums), and Hephaestus (bass). The band continues their journey through the extreme metal scene by reshaping the old-school spirit of melodic black metal through a modern approach.
