LIMINAL SPIRIT Unveils Full Album Premiere for "Forfeiture Hymns"
One life leaves many scars
Milwaukee-based solo project LIMINAL SPIRIT has made its new album, "Forfeiture Hymns", available to stream in full ahead of its official release. The exclusive premiere is hosted by Metal Addicts. Due out on digital platforms on November 6, 2026, the album brings together elements of extreme metal, industrial, drone and cinematic doom.

A solo project led by multi-instrumentalist Jerry Hauppa, LIMINAL SPIRIT expands on the dark narrative introduced on its previous album, "Unwell". That record focused on the final days of a character named Phillip Hastings in a care home, while "Forfeiture Hymns" explores his entire life and the devastating impact he has had on the people around him.
The album's concept unfolds through the perspectives of different people whose lives have been irrevocably changed by Phillip Hastings. Each track explores the trauma, guilt and pain they endure, as the narrative takes on a dark sense of cohesion with the characters ultimately being driven to suicide. The threshold between life and death is one of the album's central themes.
Hauppa explains that the music takes shape alongside the narrative during the songwriting process. He first develops the lyrical story behind a song or album, then builds its melodic structures around the progression of that story. According to the musician, every LIMINAL SPIRIT recording is written with conceptual continuity in mind, from the first note to the last.
Musically, "Forfeiture Hymns" combines death metal and doom metal foundations with industrial and electronic textures, placing drone atmospheres and cinematic storytelling at the heart of its sound. Hauppa describes the new album as the project's most extreme yet most memorable work to date. This approach builds on the musical direction established on the previous record, pushing it further towards a more pronounced industrial/drone sound.
The album's visual identity is also an important part of its concept. The cover artwork offers an abstract depiction of the death of Madeline Hastings, a character featured in the story's final chapter who provides a direct link to "Unwell". As Hauppa brings together themes and melodies from the previous recordings on the new album, he also hints at the continuation of the narrative in future releases.
Jerry Hauppa handles all instrumentation in LIMINAL SPIRIT, including kite guitar, fretless guitar, bass, synthesizers, violin, vocoder and sampling. In addition to his past involvement with NORTHLESS, ARA and ACANTHROPHIS, the musician remains active with DEORBIT, while continuing to develop LIMINAL SPIRIT as an independent artistic project.
Taking the story that began with "Unwell" into a broader narrative, "Forfeiture Hymns" arrives on November 6, 2026. Pre-order and release information is available through LIMINAL SPIRIT's Bandcamp page. A lyric video for 'Sins of the Father', a track from the album, can also be viewed on YouTube.
