MEDIA Releases “Synapse” Video, the Result of Three Years of Dedicated Work
MEDIA Releases Ambitious “Synapse” Video
Arizona-based alternative metal collective MEDIA has unveiled “Synapse,” a new music video that has been in development for a considerable period of time. According to the band, the project took nearly three years to complete and merges its musical narrative with a cinematic and experimental visual universe.
Founded by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Billy Tegethoff alongside drummer Richard Wnuk, MEDIA has remained creatively active despite undergoing several lineup changes over the years. In recent years, the band united its releases under a shared concept centered on global ecological collapse and the future of humanity. This narrative began with the Influence EP in 2022, continued with the release of “Synapse” in 2023, and concluded with the Output EP in 2024. The three chapters were later made available together as a single physical release.
The new video stands as one of the band’s most ambitious undertakings to date. Blending psychedelic and science-fiction elements, the production explores an alternate dimension inhabited by mysterious entities seeking to transform the world into a colorless and lifeless landscape. Although the song itself runs for only a few minutes, the completion of the video demanded years of intensive work.

The band members state that the project was realized without the backing of a record label or external funding. Filming took place across numerous locations, while a significant portion of the visual effects work was learned and executed independently by the team. Much of the footage was crafted using frame-by-frame animation techniques, and various technical modifications were made to camera equipment in order to capture unique imagery.
According to MEDIA, “Synapse” is far more than a conventional music video; it was conceived as a visual narrative built around themes of nature’s transformative power, perception, change, and contrast. Drawing particular inspiration from the desert landscapes of the American Southwest, the work aims to highlight both the fleeting nature of beauty and the new beginnings that emerge in the wake of destruction.
As the band prepares to bring this audiovisual concept to the stage later this year, “Synapse” arrives as one of the most ambitious and fully realized works MEDIA has presented to its audience thus far.
