Rather than looking back on their 20-year career solely through their hits, MONO INC. are preparing “20 Years of Darkness”, an album bringing together songs that hold particular significance for the band and its fan community. The first track released from the project is not part of the band’s own repertoire, but a new rendition of ‘Herzblut’, originally by MEGAHERZ.

The new version combines the song’s original structure with MONO INC.’s dark rock approach, putting sharp guitars, powerful rhythms and a weighty atmosphere front and centre. According to the band, ‘Herzblut’ retains the themes of breaking apart and getting back on your feet while also representing the long-standing bond between MONO INC. and their listeners. The song’s German lyrics are central to this approach.

“20 Years of Darkness” also moves away from the conventional best-of format. The album features 32 tracks selected from the period between 2003 and 2023, favouring lesser-known songs that hold particular meaning for MONO INC. and the Raven Community over the band’s major singles and anthems. The selection is completed by three previously unreleased tracks.

This approach allows the band to look back across a broader part of their career following their recent success. MONO INC.’s latest album, “Darkness”, became the band’s third No. 1 album in the German charts, followed by the biggest tour of their career. “20 Years of Darkness” builds on that point to establish a connection between the band’s past and present.

The album will be available in a limited-edition fan box, Silver Marbled 3-LP, black 3-LP and 2-CD Digipak formats. The fan box includes the 2CD album, a metal pin, an autograph card signed by all band members, a 2027 desk calendar and an adjustable version of the crown design featured on the album cover.
