Louisiana experimental doom metal duo RADIANT KNIFE have released a new music video for ‘Disciple Of The Astral Plane’. The track is taken from the band’s sixth full-length album, “Sankalpa”, which will be released independently on November 13. It explores the origins of human consciousness and the invisible connections between people.

RADIANT KNIFE shape the track around transcendental riffs, floating vocals and subtle synth textures. According to the band, these elements converge in a finale that reaches toward the boundaries of the astral plane, with duelling guitar melodies taking centre stage.

The duo, comprising Stephen Sheppert (guitar, synths, vocals) and Greg Travasos (drums), take a more refined, groove-driven approach on the new album without entirely abandoning the abrasive, unconventional rhythmic style of their previous release, “Pressure”. With a greater emphasis on melody, layering and sonic textures, “Sankalpa” brings together duelling guitar passages, atmospheric synths and dense rhythm guitars.

The album’s title refers to a heartfelt intention or solemn vow. RADIANT KNIFE’s sci-fi-inflected take on experimental metal combines elements reminiscent of Hum, Elder and Russian Circles with influences drawn from Dazzling Killmen, King Crimson and the experimental metal scene of the 1990s.

RADIANT KNIFE’s sixth album, “Sankalpa”, will be released digitally across all streaming platforms on November 13. Stephen Sheppert handled the album’s recording, mixing and mastering at Starless Sound, while the cover artwork was created by Terry Grow.

Pre-orders for the album are available through RADIANT KNIFE’s Bandcamp page, where the title track, ‘Sankalpa’, is also available to stream.
