Idaho hardcore punk outfit SCATTERBOX will reintroduce one of the key releases in its catalog, “Enemies,” on September 9 with a completely remixed and remastered edition. Released through Blackhouse Records Inc., the album will be available digitally and will also receive its first-ever vinyl pressing.

Originally released nearly two decades ago, “Enemies” was intended to serve as the band's fourth full-length studio album. Recorded with producer Tom Pfaeffle at Seattle's The Tank Studios, it represented the most ambitious recording project of SCATTERBOX's career up to that point. However, following Pfaeffle's untimely passing before the sessions were completed, the album had to be finished under different circumstances, and the band never felt the final mixes fully reflected its original vision.

Changes at the band's record label following the album's release also meant that “Enemies” received little promotional support. As a result, the record gradually disappeared from circulation without ever reaching listeners in the way SCATTERBOX had intended.

After regaining ownership of the original master tapes, the band revisited the album from the ground up. With an extensive remix and remaster handled by film and audio engineer Kaleb Wrenchey (Rings of Saturn, Fetish, Infrablaster), “Enemies” has been reshaped to more closely match the sound SCATTERBOX originally envisioned. The new edition will also mark the album's first physical release on limited-edition red vinyl.

Lyrically, “Enemies” reflects not only the band's personal experiences but also the economic and political climate of the period in which it was written. The impact of the global financial crisis and the political atmosphere in the United States at the time are among the themes woven directly into the album's lyrics.

SCATTERBOX features Tom White on vocals, Mark Cogburn and Sean Nicol on guitars, Ryan White on bass, and Scott Rozell on drums. The band's members have also previously performed in Moral Crux, Green Jellÿ, Intifada, and Sterileprayer.

“Enemies” will be released on September 9 via Blackhouse Records Inc. in both vinyl and digital formats.
