Seattle-based blackened sludge metal trio STRICKEN has unveiled a music video for ‘Darkness Impenetrable’ ahead of the release of its second album, "From Dark Dimensions An Unspeakable Presence Awakens", due out November 6 via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.

The video for the track was filmed and directed by Ben Schauland, while STRICKEN drummer Chris Wozniak also explained the idea behind the visual. According to Wozniak, ‘Darkness Impenetrable’ deals with encountering a darkness that is wholly oppressive and incomprehensible, whether it manifests as an entity or an emotion. The video was filmed in Snohomish County, Washington, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, a location the band felt reflected the atmosphere of the song.

Containing five tracks, "From Dark Dimensions An Unspeakable Presence Awakens" follows the band's 2022 album "From A Well Of Emptiness, A Stygian Serpent Born". On the new record, STRICKEN explores themes including the dark subconscious, self-destruction, unspeakable horror, existential dread and nihilism, while incorporating faster transitions, an intense sense of oppression, groove-driven passages and experimental arrangements compared to its predecessor.

The band handled the recording process itself. Nick Charlton served as engineer, while Chris Wozniak mixed the album. Mastering was handled at Plotkinworks by James Plotkin, whose credits include work with Khanate, Earth and Amarok. The artwork comes from visual artist Tom Denney, known for his work with Black Cobra, Soilent Green and Weedeater.

The five tracks on "From Dark Dimensions An Unspeakable Presence Awakens" are ‘Dust From The Grave’, ‘Darkness Impenetrable’, ‘Moonless’, ‘Touch Of Corruption’ and ‘From Nothing To Nothing’. The band will continue releasing additional preview tracks ahead of the album's release.

"From Dark Dimensions An Unspeakable Presence Awakens" will be released on CD and digital platforms on November 6. Physical copies and merchandise are available for preorder through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, while ‘Darkness Impenetrable’ is also available to stream via Bandcamp. STRICKEN is also working on regional tour dates for the coming months and new material.
