International progressive metal band TEMIC have released ‘Ashes’, the third advance single from their upcoming second studio album “Ceiba”, alongside an official music video. As the album’s opening track, ‘Ashes’ explores the theme of loss at the heart of the new record, moving from a dark beginning toward inner strength.

Clocking in at around five minutes, the track highlights drummer Simen Sandnes and guitarist Eric Gillette’s heavy riffs and double-kick work, while Fredrik Bergersen Klemp’s vocals carry the sense of fracture and resilience at the song’s core. Diego Tejeida’s keyboards and Miguel Pereira’s bass add a broader atmosphere between the track’s dense guitar work. The line “Though I’m broken, my will still remains” in the chorus directly reflects the album’s idea of finding strength again in the face of loss.

‘Ashes’ is the third single released from “Ceiba”, following the previously released ‘Ceased to Be’ and ‘Broken’. The band’s second album is conceived as a concept record exploring different forms of loss. The Ceiba tree, which gives the album its title, stands at the centre of this narrative as a sacred symbol in Mayan culture, representing the connection between earth, heaven and the underworld.

TEMIC say they have taken “Ceiba” in a more progressive direction following their debut album “Terror Management Theory”. While placing emotional storytelling ahead of technicality on the new songs, the band explores different forms of loss through pain, anger, fear, blame and silence. Tejeida describes the album’s central idea as the notion that loss is not an ending, but part of the process of rebuilding one’s inner strength.

Ahead of the release of ‘Ashes’, TEMIC, whose music draws from the likes of Dream Theater, Devin Townsend and Leprous, have also received praise from Mike Portnoy. Portnoy placed the band’s sound somewhere between Leprous, Sleep Token, Haken, Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation, while specifically highlighting their musicianship. Mike Portnoy’s assessment is also included in the source material.

“Ceiba” consists of 11 tracks with a total runtime of 66 minutes. The album will be released as a CD digipak, four different vinyl variants and in digital formats. Pre-orders and pre-saves for “Ceiba” are now available.

As part of the live campaign surrounding “Ceiba”, TEMIC will perform ‘Broken’ and other tracks from the new album on their European autumn tour. The “Autumnal Offerings 2026 European Tour” will feature special guests and label mates Kingcrow, beginning in Milan on October 15 and concluding in London on November 1. The German dates include Munich on October 19 and Rüsselsheim on October 22.
