THE GREAT SEA have released a video for ‘Thirteen Moons’, featuring guest vocals from Pelle Åhman (formerly of IN SOLITUDE). Filmed in the Scottish Highlands, the clip also captures the atmosphere of the band’s upcoming album, which places the relationship between humanity and nature at its centre.

Due out on 29 January 2027 via AOP Records, “Silent Feeble Cries” will be THE GREAT SEA’s second full-length album, following their 2025 debut, “Noble Art of Desolation”. On the new record, the band retain the black metal foundations established on their debut while placing greater emphasis on heavier passages and melancholic narratives.

Directed by David Gregory, the ‘Thirteen Moons’ video was filmed against the natural landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. Guest vocalist Pelle Åhman is best known for his time with IN SOLITUDE. Azathoth (GRÀB, formerly of DARK FORTRESS) and Phil “sG” Jonas (CRONE, formerly of SECRETS OF THE MOON), who both contributed vocals alongside A. on the band’s previous album, also return for the new release.

Formed in 2022 by Janosch Rathmer and Stefan Hackländer, THE GREAT SEA place humanity’s relationship with nature at the heart of their music. The lyrics on “Silent Feeble Cries” likewise explore humanity’s origins, its reconnection with nature and the inevitable cycle of existence. The album approaches these ideas through themes of decay, corruption and destruction.

Continuing the band’s DIY approach to recording, Janosch Rathmer recorded most of the drums, bass and vocals at the band’s studio in Germany before travelling to Sweden to work on the guitars and keyboards. These sessions took place in a remote, snow-covered cabin near Lakes Vänern and Vättern, playing a defining role in the album’s production. Rathmer handled the recording, production and mixing, while mastering was carried out by Tom Porcell. No conventional drum samples were used, allowing the natural dynamics of the performances to remain intact.

Following the release of “Noble Art of Desolation”, THE GREAT SEA also made their mark with a series of live performances. Their first appearance at Prophecy Fest in 2025 was followed by a performance at Rock Hard Festival in 2026.

Coinciding with the release of “Silent Feeble Cries”, the band will also play three shows in Germany:

  • 29 January 2027 – Dresden, HD Rock & Metal Bar

  • 30 January 2027 – Weiher, Live Music Hall

  • 31 January 2027 – Oberhausen, Helvete
