Atlanta-based US black metal band ÜBERCHRiIST are preparing to release their second studio album, “Dæmonic Apotheosis,” on September 25 via Deanwell Global Music. The album’s first single, ‘Anti-Phoenix Descent,’ is already available on digital platforms.

The idea of transformation lies at the heart of the album. Comprising ten tracks and running for 38 minutes and 23 seconds, “Dæmonic Apotheosis” takes its title from the concept of “apotheosis,” referring to a divine elevation, while the band constructs a narrative that this time descends into the depths of the unknown and the darkness in pursuit of reaching the heights.

Opening the album, ‘Anti-Phoenix Descent’ draws on maritime themes to take the listener toward an abyss alongside the water elemental after which the song is named. The track also serves as an introduction to the dark transformation theme that runs through the rest of the album.

The second single, ‘Serpent's Shroud,’ scheduled for release on September 18, takes the idea of transformation into a more inward direction. According to the band, the song leaves behind tears, terror, and the final traces of mortal existence, while the shroud offered by the serpent symbolizes rebirth rather than burial. Driven by blast beats, the track carries the narrative progressively deeper into the layers below.

Musically, this dark narrative is rooted in classic black metal. Blast beats and tremolo picking define the band’s fundamental approach, while the compositions open up to melodic elements when the songs call for them. The riffs also carry a pronounced old-school heavy metal influence.

ÜBERCHRiIST first took shape in 2010 through the efforts of two local musicians. Having evolved into a four-piece over the years, the band’s current lineup features Überroth on vocals and guitar, Voidseer on vocals and guitar, Blastphümii on drums, and Namirrah on bass.

Thomas Morton handled the recording and mixing at Bookhouse Recording, while mastering was also completed by Morton at Jamgood Mastering. The cover artwork was created by Jacob Gurganus.

“Dæmonic Apotheosis” will be released on September 25.
