Virginia-based thrash metal band VIGIL are preparing to unleash their debut studio album, “Primordial Rites.” Shadow Kingdom Records has announced October 30 as the album’s international release date. The record will be issued on CD and vinyl.

While the band’s output to date includes a demo and a single, VIGIL have particularly drawn attention within the underground thrash metal scene through their live performances. The five-piece extends that experience across nine tracks and approximately 40 minutes on their debut full-length.

The album’s ‘Nocturnal Hunger’ offers the first substantial glimpse into the musical approach of “Primordial Rites.” The track is now available to stream via Shadow Kingdom Records’ Bandcamp page, where the album can also be pre-ordered.

Throughout “Primordial Rites,” VIGIL combine high-speed thrash passages with more measured mid-tempo transitions and mosh-oriented sections. Rather than prioritizing technical showmanship, the album puts its emphasis on direct songwriting, with guitar solos integrated into the overall structure. Vocalist Jessica’s performance also occupies a prominent place in the band’s sound.

VIGIL’s approach carries traces of early EXODUS, WHIPLASH, and SACRIFICE, alongside more underground names such as BLOOD FEAST, HALLOWS EVE, and ZNOWHITE. Rather than viewing “Primordial Rites” simply as the sum of these references, however, it makes more sense to regard it as a debut shaped by the band’s own songwriting and stage presence.
