Bringing together three musicians with ties to NECROPHAGIST, REVOCATION and DECREPIT BIRTH, VOID SECTOR ZERO have joined the Season of Mist roster. The band, featuring Christian Muenzner, Alex Weber and Gabe Seeber, are set to release their debut album in 2026.

At the heart of the project is Christian Muenzner, who has long wanted to play tech-thrash metal. The guitarist, known for his work with NECROPHAGIST and former membership in OBSCURA and ALKALOID, brings together REVOCATION, MALIGNANCY and EXIST vocalist/bassist Alex Weber and DECREPIT BIRTH and ABIGAIL WILLIAMS drummer Gabe Seeber for the new project.

The three musicians already share a history in OBSCURA. Muenzner, Weber and Seeber performed together during the band's "A Valediction" tour. The musical chemistry that developed during that period played a role in Muenzner choosing Weber and Seeber for the tech-thrash-focused project he had been developing for some time.

VOID SECTOR ZERO's music combines late-'80s technical thrash metal with the technical death metal approach of the early '90s, while also incorporating elements of neoclassical metal, US power metal and jazz fusion. The band describes this approach as "a modern take on progressive thrash."

Muenzner cites CORONER, VOIVOD, TOXIK, MARTYR, HEXENHAUS and ASPID among the names that shaped the project's musical direction. The guitarist says that when he decided to start his own band in this style, Weber and Seeber were the musicians he had in mind to work with.

“I've always wanted to play tech-thrash. Before I got into technical death metal, I was listening to bands like CORONER, VOIVOD, TOXIK, MARTYR, HEXENHAUS and ASPID.”
