Jordsjø Premiere New Single: “Seven Heads”
New Single
Norwegian progressive collective Jordsjø have shared a new track titled “Seven Heads” with listeners ahead of their upcoming album Pestkrønikene. The song stands out as the second advance offering from the band’s highly anticipated fifth studio record, adding another layer to the album cycle’s dark yet mesmerizing atmosphere.
The new track offers a glimpse into the album, set for international release on July 24, while pushing Jordsjø’s psychedelic and progressive folk-rock veins into a broader perspective. Having carved out a solid place for themselves on the European prog scene in recent years, the band continues in this new phase to build a sound that is richly analog in feel, organic, and densely layered.

First releasing their initial recordings in 2015, Jordsjø reached an audience beyond Norway particularly with 2017’s “Jord.” Throughout a career developed via key labels such as Karisma, Apollon, and Pancromatic, the group has operated as a duo in the studio while performing live as a five-piece for many years. At the core of the project are multi-instrumentalist Håkon Oftung and his childhood friend, drummer and producer Kristian Frøland.
“Pestkrønikene” is positioned as a special release crowning the band’s 10-year journey. Although it initially took shape as a compilation of studio recordings from different periods, it gradually evolved into a fully cohesive narrative work. The album centers on darker conceptual themes such as war, the collapse of power structures, the emergence of a new order, and cult-like formations.

From a musical standpoint, Jordsjø reconstruct the aesthetics of ’70s progressive and hard rock through a contemporary lens. They merge a wide spectrum of references—from classic rock touchstones like Deep Purple and Rush to the lineage of Gentle Giant—with the spirit of the Scandinavian progressive tradition. Guest musicians featured on the record further enrich this multi-layered structure.
Despite its concise 36-minute runtime, Pestkrønikene delivers a remarkably dense narrative and is regarded as one of Jordsjø’s most cohesive works to date. With “Seven Heads,” the band once again brings the album’s atmospheric depth into focus, preparing listeners for the full experience that lies ahead.
