New Jersey death metal outfit OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS has made its six-track EP “Nexus” available to stream ahead of its official release. The EP is premiering via Decibel Magazine and will be released digitally on October 30 through Bleeding Art Collective.

Known for their 2022 debut album “Unrecognizable” and the subsequent single ‘Helminth’, the band brings together several strands of extreme metal. Combining European melodic death metal influences with djentcore and New York death metal, OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS’ sound is driven by heavy guitar tones, groove-oriented passages and breakdowns.

“Nexus” follows the band’s 2025 singles ‘Nexus’ and ‘Doomed’. The video for ‘Doomed’ has amassed 129,000 views on the Slam Worldwide channel. Mixing and mastering for the EP were handled by Dave Ricco of FACE YOURSELF.

According to the band, “Nexus” continues the story of the cosmic entity known as the World Eater, introduced on “Unrecognizable”. Exploring destruction across time and space from different perspectives, the EP addresses themes of love, greed, loss and resilience, placing them somewhere between cosmic dread and hope for a new future.

Throughout their career, OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS have shared the stage with bands including THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, INGESTED, THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE and BODYSNATCHER. The new EP brings together six tracks reflecting the band’s diverse musical influences.

OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS features Zachary Howard on vocals, Kedwin Ramirez on drums and Kevin Kim on guitar.
