Rising force in the UK's technical metal scene PERPETUAL PARADOX have begun the countdown to the release of their new EP, May Misery Befall You. Set for release on August 28 via Bleeding Art Collective, the record is now previewed by the band's first single, "Smell the Rot," accompanied by an official music video.

Consisting of five tracks, the new EP marks a shift toward a more direct and focused songwriting approach following the broader compositional scope of the band's previous full-length, Deathwish. Rather than placing technical prowess at the forefront, PERPETUAL PARADOX have opted for more cohesive songs built around powerful riffs, memorable solos, and crushing breakdowns. While retaining the intensity of technical death metal, the EP continues to emphasize melody as a key element of the band's sound.

Lead single "Smell the Rot" stands out as one of the band's most aggressive and technically demanding compositions to date. Driven by blast beats, chromatic guitar riffs, and complex harmonies, the track is further distinguished by guitar work that strongly reflects the influence of The Black Dahlia Murder. Lyrically, it explores dark themes including societal decay, humanity's role in its own downfall, and the growing disconnect between individuals.

According to the band, the song is fundamentally about humanity accepting an irreversible collapse. Through imagery that can be interpreted as representing death, corruption, or humanity itself, the lyrics also offer a critical perspective on how, despite living in the most interconnected era in history, people continue to drift further apart.

May Misery Befall You was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Marvin Menz at Tide Studios. The EP artwork was created by Redamaut.
