Australian death metal band TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE will end nearly six years of recording silence with their fifth studio album, “Cenotaph Severance.” The album will be released by Iron Bonehead Productions on October 30, 2026, on CD and vinyl.

One of the notable developments surrounding the album is the addition of IGNUS FATUUS to the guitar lineup. Known for his work with bands including PORTAL, IMPETUOUS RITUAL, and GRAVE UPHEAVAL, the musician joins TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE's current lineup with “Cenotaph Severance.” The new lineup is said to play an important role in continuing the approach the band developed following their previous album, “Pillars of Damnation.”

TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE were formed in 2010 by IV with the aim of taking ancient death metal in a direction more heavily influenced by black metal. The approach the band initially described as “Ritualistic Death Metal Necromancy” gradually developed a more atmospheric and cavernous character, becoming particularly pronounced on 2016's “The Hecatomb.” In 2018, “Recondemnation” revisited the band's 2013 debut album, “Condemnation.”

Released in 2020, “Pillars of Damnation” brought the band's tighter, more direct songwriting to the fore. “Cenotaph Severance” follows that period, retaining the riff-driven structure established on its predecessor. At the same time, the new album reportedly brings back the more bestial approach of the band's early years. This direction, particularly evident on the 2011 demo “Prophecies of Malevolence,” is brought together with the new album's atmospheric, black metal-heavy character.

The album's production combines dense, crushing guitar tones with broader, reverberant atmospheres. Rather than simply continuing from where TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE left off after their prolonged silence, this approach brings elements from different periods of the band's history together on the same recording.

The first track released from the album is 'Soul Defilement'.

“Cenotaph Severance” will feature eight tracks:
