WAR-SAW rises from the ashes
Warsaw-based thrash metal band WAR-SAW have returned after a lengthy hiatus with their new EP, “Blood for God”. Released on June 20, 2026, the release features new material from the band alongside covers of songs originally recorded by RUNNING WILD and CARNIVORE.
Behind WAR-SAW’s return is a difficult period in the life of the band’s leader, Marek “Agnostic” Molenda. Molenda says that after his house burned down, along with everything he owned, on February 25, 2020, he had to spend some time living in a camper with his five-year-old son, with rebuilding their lives becoming his priority. After his desire to create music returned, another injury unexpectedly contributed to the emergence of new material. During six weeks of medical leave with his left hand in a cast, Molenda wrote new songs, three of which eventually appeared on “Blood for God”.
Another notable aspect of the EP is the way WAR-SAW combine their own material with two tracks from the classic thrash metal repertoire. Sylwia Ciszewska handles vocals on WAR-SAW’s cover of RUNNING WILD’s ‘Under Jolly Roger’, with her husband Paweł and their daughter Sabina also contributing as guests. Molenda revealed that the song was the favourite of Ciszewska’s late husband, Artur “Arnold” Papierski, and that the original version was played at his funeral. “Blood for God” is also dedicated to Papierski’s memory.
The drums for the recording were performed by session musician Paweł “Pavulon” Jaroszewicz, a member of PATRIARKH and former drummer of ANTIGAMA. Filip “Heinrich” Hałucha handled the EP’s mixing and mastering at Heinrich House Studio, while Mexican vocalist Alex “Growler” Quintero joined WAR-SAW’s lineup in 2024. Marek “Agnostic” Molenda recorded his guitar solos using a Dean Vengeance Fluence, while Paweł “Abaddon” Rekowski used a Solar 1.6V RD Artist EverTune.
The artwork was created by Michał “Xaay” Loranc, known for his work with bands including NILE, PESTILENCE and GOD DETHRONED.
Formed in Warsaw in 2008, WAR-SAW have previously released “Nuclear Nightmare” (2013), “Blood Honour Vendetta” (2015) and “The Manifest” (2017). Throughout their career, the band have performed at events including Metalfest Jaworzno and Dark Fest Open Air, as well as appearing at DESTRUCTION’s anniversary show in Oberhausen and sharing the stage with ROTTING CHRIST.
“Blood for God” was released digitally and is available across all major streaming platforms. The EP has also been independently released on CD.
